KRCY Stage 1 Coarse Rock Tumbling Grit – 60/90 Silicon Carbide
Fast-cutting coarse silicon carbide grit designed for the first stage of rotary rock tumbling. Ideal for shaping rough stones, removing sharp edges, and preparing rocks for medium grinding.
KRCY Stage 1 Coarse Rock Tumbling Grit is a professional-grade silicon carbide abrasive formulated for the initial grinding stage in rotary rock tumbling.
This coarse grit is designed to aggressively remove rough surfaces, sharp edges, pits, fractures, and irregular contours from raw stones before progressing to finer stages. It is ideal for agate, jasper, quartz, petrified wood, aventurine, obsidian, and many other tumbling materials with Mohs hardness suitable for rotary tumbling.
The abrasive delivers stable cutting performance and consistent slurry formation, helping users achieve smoother stone profiles while minimizing uneven grinding. Proper Stage 1 grinding is critical because imperfections left during this stage often remain visible after polishing.
Recommended tumbling cycle:
- 7–10 days in rotary tumbler
- Water level slightly below top of stones
- Fill barrel 2/3 to 3/4 full
- Clean thoroughly before moving to Stage 2
Compatible with most rotary tumblers including:
- KRCY tumblers
- Lortone tumblers
- Thumler’s tumblers
- Tumble-Bee systems
Suitable for:
- Hobby rock tumbling
- STEM education
- Lapidary workshops
- Geological projects
- DIY gemstone polishing
Store in a dry environment after opening.
